Just like you, people around the world are starting to pay more attention to the problems caused by our waste production and plastic use. At Waste Not, we’re doing our best to offer great products that could help you to reduce your use of unnecessary plastic and become zero waste on the go and at home.
Historically, plastic bags were one of the worst offenders in environmental pollution. Thanks to their shape, they can easily be picked up on the wind and blown out of rubbish piles and landfill sites, sticking to plants and trees or eventually ending up in the ocean where marine animals confuse them for food sources and ingest them, resulting in serious harm and often death.
Thankfully, the UK government have now introduced a 5p charge on single use plastic bags, which has seen numbers cut by half. That’s great news. Next stop, how about we all work together to reduce our personal use of plastic bags and containers to a big fat 0. (And recently, they’ve announced that it’s going up to 10p!)
We love these organic cotton string bags. They’re super lightweight so you can keep them stored in your day bag and ready for use, and they’re also spacious and strong, so you can fill them up with produce or other day-to-day goods and not worry about splits or spills.
No chemical pesticides or fertilizers are used in the production of the fabric for these bags and the farmers who produce the cotton are guaranteed to work under safe conditions with an agreed minimum wage.
